You can help improve lives
There are several ways you can help create healthier and strong communities:
Make a financial gift
Financial gifts help ensure that services are available to anyone who may need them, regardless of their ability to pay. This community support, in addition to United Way funding and support from network180 and other coordinating agencies, is crucial to advancing our mission to create stronger communities. With your help, the 24 programs provided by Project Rehab, Life Guidance Services, Community Treatment Centers, and the Employee Assistance Center can provide behavioral health services to those in need–regardless of someone’s ability to pay. Gifts of any amount can make a difference in the lives of those we serve and help create healthier and strong communities. Make a secure online donation now through Network for Good by clicking on the button below. If you wish to apply your gift to a particular division, program, or purpose, simply note it in the "designation" field. You can also indicate if you wish for your gifts to remain anonymous (your name will not appear in our annual report or other donor recognition materials). Please help today.
Donate things you no longer need
Your donations to our Goodwill collection bin helps our clients!
You can help our clients get their basic clothing needs met by bringing your in-kind donations of clothing and other items to the Proaction Behavioral Health Alliance | Goodwill collection bin at our corporate offices. A partnership with Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids allows us to exchange the donations you bring to our corporate offices for vouchers that allow clients to select exactly what they need when they need it. The process is simple: Simply bring your donations of clothing and household goods to our corporate offices weekdays from 8:30am-5pm. If desired, the receptionist can provide you with a receipt. Goodwill collects the donations from our bin and provides us with vouchers that are used to meet client needs. Treatment staff from Project Rehab and Life Guidance Services can bring clients to any local Goodwill stores where they can use the vouchers to get needed clothing and other basic necessities. In addition, this partnership allows program staff to select household goods and other items needed for our transitional housing units and for other treatment needs. Both Goodwill Industries and Proaction Behavioral Health Alliance recognize the power of individuals overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency and share a commitment to improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities. If you have questions on the partnership or about making in-kind donations, please call (616) 776-0891 x101.

Be an Advocate for Community Wellness
In 1985, it was determined that a 4% excise tax on liquor sales in Michigan would be invested in addiction treatment and prevention programs. Over the years, the funds from this liquor tax have provided thousands of students with training to help them make healthy decisions and prevent substance abuse. These funds also allow individuals to get treatment for substance use illness who can not get treatment through other means. But now our leaders in Lansing are planning to raid this fund to help address the Michigan State budget crises. Based on what is invested in substance use prevention and treatment, Michigan already ranks in the bottom 10% in its commitment to wellness and prevention. If this isn’t acceptable to you, let your legislators know it! Contact your local representatives and tell them not to raid the liquor tax fund. Click here to find your representative.

Substance use disorders and mental illness are healthcare issues. For too long these issues have been diminished as minor social problems. But in reality, they are diseases of the brain and need to be considered just like any other chronic disease in order to affect the systemic change needed for everyone to have access to the help they need. Click on the links below to review materials about substance use disorders and other mental diseases.
Be Aware of Other Community Resources
